Role purpose: This position delivers the sourcing of materials, goods and services for the Company in line with Company goals and objectives as stated in Company strategic and operating plans and accordance with the procurement policy. By working in close collaboration with senior management, this individual must achieve excellence in procurement resulting in both a high quality of internal service while maximising saving potential within their procurement category.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • The role holder is in charge of all the sourcing activities within their category, leading all local supplier selections and negotiations.
  • The role holder will support the global procurement strategy where required and gather all requirements to ensure that the Opco’s views and best interests are represented during global strategy development
  • The role holder will be fully accountable for the issuing of all local RFx, and responsible for coordinating and supporting the gathering of all requirements for globally issued RFx
  • The role holder will help their team to develop customer and supplier relationships.

  • Key performance indicators:

Compliance to savings targets as established from time to time.
Full compliance with the procurement policy.
Sourcing of goods as per the established SLA.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

  • Excellent level of computer literacy conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project and Powerpoint. Experience with any major ERP system is also a requirement.
  • Intimate knowledge of procurement ethics and best practice.
  • Excellent analytical skills coupled with visionary planning capabilities
  • Proven track record of managing sophisticated customer and supplier relationships
  • Must be able to work in a demanding and dynamic environment

Must have technical/professional qualifications:

  1. College or University Graduate with a degree in materials management, supply chain, commerce or international trade.
  2. CIPS Qualification.
  3. 3 years experience at senior procurement level.
