Job description

Our client is looking for a Jetty Assurance Engineer, for leading and supporting the assurance in the execution of the LNG Marine Terminal. The role requires demonstrable safety leadership that sets a high benchmark to be sustained throughout the project.
Development of the LNG Marine Terminal includes the installation of distinct LNG Loading infrastructure such as:

  • Marine Terminal, Access Trestle and Jetty Head Topsides, including associated loading and circulation lines;
  • Jetty Control Building;
  • LNG Berths and Loading Platforms, including LNG loading arms, HPU, Dolphins and associated process piping;
  • Power Supply cabling, panel boards and ship-to-shore umbilical communication link;
  • FIFI Tug Pump in Points and Platform;
  • Berthing Aid systems;
  • Fire Detection and Fire Suppression; and
  • Future Tie-In capabilities.

The position will be a contractor role on a rotation basis based in Afungi, Northern Mozambique.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Attributes

The successful candidate will have a minimum of ten (10) or more years' experience in the construction of civil, structural, mechanical and piping works as described above within the LNG, Oil and Gas and/or Petrochemical facilities. Specific experience and expertise in the following areas is required:

  • Previous experience in a similar role(s) on a large-scale project(s) with a history of demonstrable safety leadership;
  • Lead auditor with extensive experience in broad project assurance execution;
  • Knowledge of appropriate codes, standards and good assurance and engineering practices specifically within the civil, structural, mechanical, piping construction industry;
  • Advanced knowledge of construction activities for marine structures, onshore structures, buildings and associated disciplines, such as, pre-cast structures, structural, piling, piping and mechanical, etc.;
  • Knowledge of dredging, welding, NDE, coatings and survey principles will be an advantage;
  • Proven ability to manage, influence and liaise with contractors, subcontractors, other clients and key stakeholders on site.
  • Proven ability to manage and influence a team and develop an effective culture through respect and by example;
  • An excellent understanding of financial controls and budgets;
  • Proficient English language skills, both verbal and written;
  • Effective communication and leadership skills;
  • Team player able to foster team relationships, and think outside the box;
  • Ability to deliver a culture committed to safely delivering the Project targets.


  • Safety leadership of EPC contractors to achieve best in class safety performance in the field;
  • Leadership and supervision of Jetty related Assurance activities in accordance with the Construction Assurance Plan, supporting procedures, assurance schedules and project contract requirements;
  • Assist Onshore LNG Site Assurance Manager as required in the management of the overall Assurance program;
  • Strive to be aware of the cost and schedule implications of decisions, and raise any query that they have with the Onshore LNG Site Assurance Manager;
  • Monitor both company and EPC Contractor progress and quality and confirm they are acceptable. If progress and/or quality is not acceptable, inform and work with Contractor and Total Management to improve performance to an acceptable level;
  • Implement Company Construction Assurance process;
  • Monitor and review construction practices, including design control, document control, interface management and special processes;
  • Where required monitor and participate in Contractors' vendor activities;
  • Review and monitor closeout of Contractor NCRs;
  • Progressive review of Contractor documentation, including MDR's and final dossiers in readiness for handover;
  • Participate in Contractor led audits, ensuring audit reports are issued within acceptable time frame and audit actions are appropriately implemented;
  • Liaise, as necessary, with other parts of the Mozambique LNG project, to ensure a consistent approach is taken to all project facilities in the civil/structural/geotechnical areas;
  • Assure the project HSSE and Quality objectives are being followed;
  • Report incidents and near misses immediately;
  • Comply with a duty of care to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountability for HSSE, be accountable for ensuring that they adopt exemplary safe behaviors;
  • Adhere to the client's Business Principles at all times under Conduct, Our People, Society and HSSE and to participate in relevant training as required.


A degree/diploma qualification in related oil and gas field project. An internationally recognized certification for auditing and / or recognized verification scheme or equivalent industry experience is required.
Fluent oral and written knowledge of English. Knowledge of Portuguese is advantageous.
