FHI 360 serves more than 70 countries and all U.S. states and territories. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Associate Director – Capacity Strengthening.

Key responsibilities:

Manage the logistical arrangements for trainings and workshops by coordinating with the finance and operations teams to ensure active participation of local partner staff in each session Work with existing Organizational Development Technical Advisor (ODTA) to conduct assessments and develop integrated capacity-strengthening plans for each organization. Monitor and manage implementation of these workplans, timely progress towards stated objectives for this initiative, and local partner progress in strengthening individual and organizational capacity. 
Develop training and coaching materials by soliciting input from colleagues and other available resources, to deliver interactive and practical learning sessions. Ensure provision of all capacity strengthening support necessary – includes providing direct support, orienting and coordinating support from within the organization, and identifying and mobilizing outside resources if necessary. Provide coaching and mentoring to the selected organizations in managing necessary changes to structure, policies, processes, etc. Frequently converse with contacts at each organization to ensure ongoing engagement and progress. Organize thematic and problem-solving workshops, tapping into internal and external expertise. 
 The ADCS will lead capacity strengthening activities on project management in a high pressure environment. Review deliverables produced by local partners to directly apply learning from workshops, provide timely feedback, and monitor partner progress in applying new knowledge and skills. Communicate regularly with senior management team and colleagues on individual local partner growth, challenges, and opportunities. Provide support to other project teams as necessary to ensure key senior staff are available to support local organizations when necessary. This may include representation at meetings, preparing documents or reports or analyses. Other tasks as required by the Chief of Party.


Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience: 

A Master’s Degree plus 7-9 years’ experience or bachelor’s degree plus 9-11 years’ experience in social sciences, business administration, or a related field. Experience in strengthening the capacity of local organizations including assessing technical and organizational capacity, developing customized capacity building plans, and providing individualized training, coaching and on-site support in various areas of need. Experience in working with USAID/PEPFAR funding required, in Mozambique an advantage. Highly experienced project manager that understands the integration of budgets, project targets, organizational structures and technical approaches and can support local organizations in developing the systems and capacity the ability to do this. Solid experience in the management of people and systems in high-pressure environments. Experience managing complex human resource situations an advantage. Experience managing consultants (design TORs, select candidates, revise deliverables). Excellent communicator with demonstrated ability to be an influential coach and TA provider. Fluency in English and Portuguese – oral and written. Excellent computer skills, including advanced excel skills.
